Greetings :~) My nickname is Drigo, and I coordinate the development of these two islands. When I first came across these islands in 2004 I discovered a simple but beautiful place. It was a private island back then, owned by an Indonesian family, and looked after by a German friend of mine and his family, who had lived in Indonesia for many years. I fell in love with the islands and was invited to help look after them. Eventually, my friend moved away and his parents retired in Bali, and the owners invited me to look after the place full time. It was then that I decided to evolve the islands into a small-scale eco resort and apply the concept of an eco-village.
I was born and raised in Indonesia and have a deep love and passion for this country. I carry an American passport, I am European by background, and in my heart I am Indonesian. I was educated at Jakarta International School and later at Pomona College in California – apparently two of the best educational institutions in the world – but I found myself years later missing a big chunk of what’s really important. I became a consultant for foreign investors in Indonesia, and later worked for the Association of South East Asian Nations under a regional business leader. I thought that through these jobs I could make the world a better place, but I found that that was an illusion and that I actually had to re-educate myself and branch out to start my own enterprise. I had perfect ‘resume progress’ but I decided to give it all up and listen to my intuition. After a long period of searching, I have found my purpose to be building eco-resort-villages to exemplify a new way of living. One that brings us back into harmony with nature, with each other, and with the Omniverse. This is the foundation upon which Tiger Islands Village & Eco Resort is built. Thankfully, the island owners and caretakers support this vision fully, and together we have committed ourselves to realize this dream.
On a more personal level, I love nature, I love good conversation, and I love seeing dreams manifested. I’m interested in philosophy, the human potential movement, real history, and the question of conscious evolution. I like to get silly too, love laughing, watching good movies, and while I aspire to optimal health, still find myself enjoying coffee & cigarettes and the occassional drink :~) I take a personal interest in getting to know our guests and am amazed at the awesome people we attract to our little paradise.
